Birth & Embrace Communities Inc’s Birth Doula Certification Course was designed by collectively connecting evidence and experience based knowledge of the physiological process of birth and the long history of birth practices. We strive to bring the best information and expertise to all of our trainees to ultimately lower maternal health statistics especially in BIPOC communities. Our training has specific cultural inserts to promote equity, connect us to our roots, and allow us to do what we’ve always done.

This certification course is full of insightful evidence based knowledge that will be vital on your journey as a Doula. We focus on interactive, hands on, and visualization just as much as book work. The skills you will learn in BECI’s Doula Course will be based on the physiological process of childbirth first because that is our greatest evidence. We also used history, science, and professional research to develop our curriculum. This class will teach you everything you need to know as an aspiring birth worker from hands on labor support, to emotional support, and how to make your passion your day job.

After the in class participation we offer a continued mentorship program to help you get started on your Doula journey. This includes support from experienced Doulas, a circle of support, and additional workshops.

This course will teach families and professionals all of the necessary information to understand childbirth. You will leave this class feeling confident in understanding the physiologic process of birth and alternative birthing options. Studies show that when people have an increased awareness in the process of birth, they are more likely to have better birthing experiences, higher confidence, sufficient self advocacy, a decrease in the use of pain medicine, and an increased likelihood to breastfeed.
